Data corrections policy

What can be corrected

• champion identity, season label, or championship status;
• poll or selector recognition and whether it should count under the published policy;
• historical program or franchise name and location;
• primary home venue, multi-venue treatment, opening or closing date;
• playing-surface latitude and longitude;
• source attribution, retrieval details, or confidence;
• era boundary or explanatory language;
• epicenter output, dispersion statistic, locality label, or map presentation;
• accessibility, privacy, legal, or editorial content.

What to include

1. Identify the sport, season, range, page, and field in question.
2. Quote or describe the current published value.
3. State the proposed replacement or the uncertainty that should be recorded.
4. Provide direct links to the strongest available evidence.
5. Explain why the evidence applies to that specific season and field.

Primary and contemporaneous records are preferred. A search result, AI summary, forum post, or unsourced assertion is not sufficient by itself, though it may help locate stronger evidence.

Review process

1. The report is acknowledged and categorized.
2. The existing and proposed sources are compared under the source hierarchy.
3. Related seasons, team identities, venue periods, and range outputs are checked for impact.
4. The canonical record is corrected or the conflict is documented.
5. Automated tests and the complete affected-sport build are rerun.
6. A new versioned artifact is published if the correction changes public output.

Champography may decline a requested change when the evidence is insufficient, contradictory, or outside the published championship policy. A declined request does not prevent the issue from being documented as unresolved.

Material versus editorial changes

Material changes affect champion identity, geographic inputs, weights, calculated points, locality results, or supporting statistics. They require a data-version or artifact update. Editorial changes fix spelling, clarity, broken links, or presentation without changing the underlying result and may be released with the site itself.

Submit a correction

Send correction reports to [email protected]. Do not include sensitive personal information. Supporting documents should be public links when possible.

No payment for favorable results

Sponsors, advertisers, teams, schools, leagues, and other interested parties cannot purchase a change to the data, methodology, or displayed epicenter. Commercial relationships, if any, are kept separate from editorial and analytical decisions.
