Coverage: Champion coverage spans the BAA's founding 1946-47 season through the latest completed season. Franchise relocations are modeled by season: the 1948 Baltimore Bullets are recorded as a defunct franchise unrelated to the modern Washington club, and the 1979 SuperSonics title is credited to the franchise that became the Oklahoma City Thunder while the claim notes record Seattle's retained heritage. A source link identifies the evidence used for the cited field; it is not an endorsement of every statement on the linked page.

Reading the table
- The champion is recorded under the name it carried that season, so the 1954 title reads Minneapolis Lakers and the 1955 title reads Syracuse Nationals.
- The 1948 Baltimore Bullets are recorded as their own franchise. That club folded in November 1954 and is unrelated to the later Baltimore and Washington team that became the Wizards, whose 1978 title is a separate row.
- The 1979 SuperSonics title is credited to the franchise that relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008, which is the league's own position; Seattle retained the SuperSonics name and banners under the relocation settlement, and the claim note records that.
- Arena renames on one site are one venue with a rename window; genuinely new buildings are separate rows, which is why the Celtics' 1986 and 2008 points differ slightly and the Bucks' 1971 and 2021 points differ by a few hundred metres.
